Opera Noire of New York is the city's newest performance and resource company dedicated to the advancement of Afro-American Classical Singers.
Founded by Kenneth Overton, Robert Mack and Barron Coleman, Opera Noire of New York has over 60 members to date. Opera Noire of New York is a performing arts organization led by African American singers in pursuit of a serious performing career. Our mission is to empower members to achieve their full potential in a mutually supportive environment which promotes effective training, constructive sharing, and unselfish generosity. Our vision is to provide every member the opportunity to develop vocally, dramatically and artistically, which in turn fosters self-confidence and personal growth.
